Our smooth textured surface provides consistent paint adhesion across oil, acrylic, gouache, and tempera. As an ISO 9001 certified Chinese manufacturer, we can provide GSM and board thickness test data for comparison.

The C3001 uses 100% pure cotton canvas at 280gsm with a smooth textured surface mounted on a 3mm acid-free board. The 280gsm cotton provides a balanced surface: enough tooth for paint grip but smooth enough for detailed work. The 3mm board thickness gives rigidity without adding excessive weight — ideal for classroom and studio use.

The C3001 is triple primed with acid-free gesso — three coats applied for a consistent, archival-quality painting surface. The acid-free formulation prevents yellowing and embrittlement over time. The triple priming fills the cotton weave to create a smooth surface that does not require additional preparation before painting.

The C3001 is a canvas panel (canvas mounted on rigid board), not a stretched canvas with a wooden frame. The 3mm acid-free mounted board provides the structural support, making it ideal for artists who prefer a flat, non-flexible painting surface. The cut edges are clean and suitable for framing or display without additional mounting.

The C3001 is suitable for a wide range of painting media including oil, acrylic, gouache, tempera, and mixed media. The smooth textured surface works well for both thin washes and heavy impasto techniques. For watercolor, the canvas board handles light washes but is not designed for heavy wet-on-wet techniques — we recommend our dedicated watercolor stretched canvas (C3071) for that.
